H2M Architects + Engineers, a multidiscipline architectural, engineering, environmental consulting firm in Melville, NY seeks a mid level Project Architect predominantly responsible for architectural CAD production and document coordination to join our Albany team. We¿re looking for a Project Architect/Project Designer with 8 - 10 years experience in architectural CAD production and document coordination. In this role, you will be developing and executing architectural design work for both public and private clients. You will also coordinate the efforts of both in-house and outside teams who handle structural engineering, MEP design, civil and environmental engineering services. Education and Qualifications

  • 5-7 years of architectural design experience working in private sector.
  • Extensive knowledge of Architectural Design.
  • Exceptional knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit and other BIM software.
  • The ability to work and thrive in a team environment.
  • Knowledge of project specifications & CSI division formatting.
  • Strong organizational, time management & multitasking skills.
  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written. ¿Proficiency in Photoshop, Sketch-Up, and Microsoft Office.
  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture highly desired.
  • Professional RA, desired.
  • Architecture enrollment in NCARB IDP preferred.
  • LEED certification a plus.

Job Responsibilities: Makes decisions and recommendations that are recognized as authoritative and have an important impact on extensive architectural activities. Ability to demonstrate creativity, foresight and mature architectural judgment in anticipating and solving unprecedented architectural problems. Determine project objectives and requirements. Develop standards and guidelines for diverse architectural activities. Determine compliance with technical documents and industry specific standards and codes. Involved in the analysis of client problems in conceiving and developing architectural solutions to those problems. Manage, coordinate and mentor staff and project level employees. Manage all aspects of client relations including attending meetings. Perform other like duties as assigned. Experience and Qualifications Needed: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must possess a New York State Architect¿s license with current registration and have two years of architectural experience in building design, production of contract documents and construction administration for institutional, commercial, industrial and/or multi-unit residential building** projects. Starting salary is $71,309, leading to a salary of $90,020, based on annual performance advances. This will be a provisional appointment. ** Projects involving one or two family dwellings or residences is not considered qualifying experience for this position.

Job Responsibilities:
 The New York State Education Department’s Office of Education Policy is seeking candidates for a Senior Architect position in the Office of Facilities Planning. This Office is primarily responsible for code enforcement, life safety, fire safety, and health in all public K-12 schools and BOCES in the State. Duties of this position include, but are not limited to, the following: Review preliminary plans and specifications submitted by school districts for approval; Review bid documents for compliance with the NYS Uniform Fire Prevention and Building Code as well as compliance with the Commissioner’s health and safety regulations and the Department¿s Manual of Planning Standards prior to the issuance of a building permit; Make field visits and inspections as required to investigate code compliance, complaints or emergency conditions and provide on-site technical advice; Provide technical assistance to school districts, architects and engineers working on public school projects; Interpret building codes and Manual of Planning Standards where necessary.
